We didn’t know it until now, but the venerable Kürtőskalács, or “chimney cake”, may be the up and coming cake trend.
At least that is what Alma is about - they took the venerable spit cake and turned it into a fashionable foodie item, complete with a dozen toppings.
To be honest, we still wouldn’t have bothered much, but their brunch offering in the passage Choiseul won us over: The burger, roast vegs and granola all appeared house-made. When you go at it at a leisurely pace you can spend quite some time in their cosy restaurant.
Brunch is obviously topped off with the signature chimney cake, but that is really just icing on the cake.
