Cherry Blossom viewing in Berlin 2019

In case you can’t go to Japan for the cherry blossom season, you can still enjoy the feeling in Berlin. On April 14th, the Gärten der Welt will open their doors for the annual Kirschblütenfest (cherry blossom festival).

In case you can’t go to Japan for the cherry blossom season, you can still enjoy the feeling in Berlin. On April 14th, the Gärten der Welt will open their doors for the annual Kirschblütenfest (cherry blossom festival).

The Gärten der Welt are a great garden and park area on the outskirts of Berlin, which we love to go to. There are a number of “themed” gardens, including Japanese, Korean and Chinese gardens. The park area was extended for the international garden exhibition in 2018 and you can now also ride over the area in a cable car.

The Kirschblütenfest is an annual tradition that mixes traditional cherry blossom viewing with a cosplay festival, cultural progam and snacks. If the weather is nice, it is a must-go. And yes, the timing is usually right to see actual cherry blossoms on the trees.

You can beat the (very long) queues by buying your ticket online in advance. Tickets should also work on your mobile, so you could still buy only even if you’re already in line.

Practical Details: Gärten der Welt

  • Blumberger Damm 44, 12685 Berlin
  • Blumberger Damm/Gärten der Welt (Bus)
  • Open: Daily 9:00-20:00
